For accuracy at very low EC (0 - 1.99 mS) the AZ EC pen measures in µS (microsiemens) , then (above 1.99 EC) measures in mS (millisiemens):

0 - 1999 µS (microsiemens) = 0 - 1.999 mS (millisiemens) or as we refer to in hydro 0 - 1.99 EC. This range is for low-conductivity solutions, like pure or lightly salted water (e.g., drinking or tap water or hydroponics with very low nutrient levels).
- 2.00 - 19.99 mS (millisiemens) or 2 - 19.99 EC: This range is for medium-conductivity solutions, such as irrigation water or nutrient solutions in hydroponics.
- 20.0 - 160.0 mS or 20 - 160 EC: This range is for high-conductivity solutions, like seawater or heavily fertilised solutions.
